Have a teen? Sign up for Pass it On!

September 12, 2024

Do you have a teen (or know one) who starts at GISS this school year? Pass it On is a perfect way to meet friends, practice important life skills, have fun and make a smooth transition into high school. For teenagers who are already in high school is Pass it On a great opportunity to build new friendships and practice mentorship and leadership skills.

Pass It On, facilitated by The Circle Education, is a (free) after-school cross-peer mentorship program designed for kids in high school and supports mental well-being and healthy relationships.

Our programs have professional facilitators who create a safe and trusted space for sharing, learning and practicing important life skills.

We do fun activities and games, have snacks and talk about topics that are relatable and important to teenagers, like friendships, school, confidence, consent, trust, identity, peer pressure and relationships.

The Circle Education offers two separate programs, one for boys in Grade 8 and up (an outdoor program on Fridays, 2-4.30 pm at Bullock Lake Farm) and one for girls in Grade 8 (buddies) and Grade 10 and up (mentors), Tuesdays after school (4.10-6.30 pm) at GISS. Both programs start in October.

Pass it On Girls started fourteen years ago and Pass it On Boys is going into its fourth year. “I still see a lot of former participants, who are now in their – late – twenties and some with children, and I know that the impact of our program and the skills they learn lasts a lifetime”, says program coordinator Kate Nash.

All our programs are safe, non-judgmental, and welcoming. Participants are encouraged to self-select based on their gender identity and gender expression.
