Support our Youth; Become a Member

September 13, 2022

The Circle Education is a not-for-profit educational organization based on Salt Spring Island. We have been offering school programs in collaboration with School District 64 for over more than 25 years, and we need your support to continue our important work.

Especially in this age of division. Are we still able to listen to each other? Just listen, without judgment. Can we respect different opinions, beliefs or life choices, although they’re not ours?

We believe that if we give young people the tools to grow healthy relationships, to connect with each other in a respectful way and educate them about diversity and equality, we can begin to bridge the chasm. Our programs do just this.

Become a member

We are welcoming new members who align with our mission, or if you have supported us last year, we hope you want to continue again for the 2022-2023 school year.

Individual memberships cost $20 per year. Our membership year is from September through August.

By becoming a member, you’re letting us know that you believe that building healthy families and communities starts with children and youth gaining the skills and attitudes they need to create healthy relationships.

To vote at a General Meeting, your membership due must be paid at least 30 days in advance of the meeting. Our Annual General Meeting this year is Thursday October 27th.

Last year because of our donors and members:

We reached over 500 local students through our in-school offerings and after-school programs (The Respect Project and The Empathy Project, Pass It On).

We launched a podcast highlighting youth perceptions on pressing topics like mental health, identity and belief systems.

We started a series of Cultural Diversity Dialogues in honour of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (May 21st) by interviewing and sharing stories of young people from different backgrounds.

Together with IWAV (Islanders Working Against Violence), we raised awareness for violence against women by hosting a candlelight vigil on December 6th to remember the 14 women killed in Montreal in 1989 and to acknowledge the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against women.

We celebrated 12 years of Pass it On Girls, bringing over 30 girls back together who endorsed the long-term positive impacts of the program on their mental health and wellbeing.
